Northeast Sod is hiring an experienced Crew Foreman to lead one of our sod installation teams for the upcoming season.
We install sod for residential properties, landscapers, builders, athletic fields, and commercial projects throughout the region. Our crews work hard, move efficiently, and take pride in doing the job the right way. We are looking for a leader who sets that standard and holds their crew to it.
As Foreman, you are responsible for everything that happens on the job site from arrival to departure. You lead the crew, manage the pace, operate or oversee equipment, and represent Northeast Sod in front of every client.
Crew foremen meet at our yard in Goshen, NY each morning before heading to job sites.
Meeting Time: Approximately 5:00 AM Typical Return Time: Approximately 3:00 PM
Reliability, leadership, and a strong work ethic are non-negotiable at this level.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a crew of 4-5 installers on job sites
- Oversee sod installation and ensure quality standards are met on every job
- Operate company truck and trailer to and from job sites
- Operate or supervise operation of heavy equipment on site
- Assign crew positions and adjust throughout the job as needed
- Maintain communication with clients and management throughout the day
- Ensure job sites are left clean and professional upon departure
- Complete required field documentation and app inputs
Requirements
- Valid driver's license required
- Must be able to perform and lead physical outdoor work
- Able to lift 40-70 lbs repeatedly
- Must be able to report to Goshen, NY each morning
- Experience in sod installation, landscaping, or construction strongly preferred
- Prior crew leadership experience preferred
- Reliable, punctual, and accountable
Compensation
- $225.00-$250 per day base rate
- Performance-based piece rate incentive on top of day rate
- Opportunities for discretionary promotions throughout the season
Work Environment
Our foremen run the job site. You make the calls, keep the crew moving, and deliver results. Team members who prove themselves in this role will find that advancement at Northeast Sod comes faster than most places. We promote from within and we are actively building our leadership bench as we grow.
Schedule
- Monday-Saturday during peak season
- Meeting time: Approximately 5:00 AM
- Return time: Approximately 3:00 PM
- Weather dependent
- Peak season runs from April through November
