Summary

The Director of Affiliated Dental Sites at the Bitonte College of Dentistry is responsible for the oversight, coordination, and strategic development of the college's network of external clinical training sites. This includes community health centers, hospitals, and public health facilities affiliated with the college for the purpose of student education, patient care, and community engagement.

This position ensures that all affiliated sites meet academic, clinical, and regulatory standards while fostering collaborative relationships with external partners to enhance the educational experience of dental students and support the college's mission to improve oral health in underserved communities.

Principal Functional Responsibilities

Administrative and Strategic Responsibilities: Work with college leadership to expand and diversify the college's clinical footprint through the identification of new partnership opportunities. Provide regular reports and updates to the Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs and other college leadership on affiliated site activities and student outcomes. Assist in budgeting and resource planning related to affiliated site operations.

Site Management and Oversight: Oversee and manage the operational relationship between the Bitonte College of Dentistry and all affiliated clinical training sites. Ensure that each site meets the college's standards for educational quality, patient care, safety, and compliance with regulatory bodies (e.g., CODA, HIPAA, OSHA). Conduct routine site evaluations and collaborate with site leadership to implement necessary improvements or changes. Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective affiliated partners. Develop and negotiate affiliation agreements in coordination with legal and administrative departments. Represent the college at meetings and site visits to foster collaboration and ensure alignment with institutional goals.

Collaboration with Student Placement and Communication: Coordinate student clinical rotations at affiliated sites, ensuring appropriate placement based on educational requirements and site capacity. Serve as a liaison between site preceptors, students, and the college's academic and clinical affairs teams to address concerns, resolve issues, and ensure optimal learning outcomes. Monitor and document student performance feedback from affiliated site supervisors and ensure integration into student evaluations.

Compliance and Quality Assurance. Maintain records of affiliation agreements, site accreditation documentation, and compliance reports. Ensure all sites adhere to the college's policies for clinical education, infection control, patient safety, and confidentiality. Collaborate with the Quality Assurance Office and Clinical Affairs Committee to assess performance and maintain high standards across all sites.

Other Duties: Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Health Administration, Public Health, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in dental or healthcare administration, preferably involving clinical education or site coordination.
  • Knowledge of clinical education standards and compliance requirements in dental settings.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree (MPH, MBA, or related)
  • Experience working within a dental school or academic health institution.
  • Familiarity with CODA standards, student clinical evaluation processes, and electronic health record (EHR)

The Preferred Candidate Will Have

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for working with internal teams and external partners.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to utilize a phone, computer and other office equipment. Will require travel to affiliated sites within the region (some overnight travel may be necessary).

Starting Salary Range: $62,167 – $72,000, commensurate with experience
