SUMMARY:

Provides direct care, intervention, and supports needs of multiple individuals and sites. Provides immediate response to potential emergencies and crisis during the hours when face-to-face staff are not present in individuals’ homes. Responsible for the operation and general maintenance of electronic monitoring systems, ensuring that each system is working properly. Monitors and responds to incoming auditory cues for immediate support or intervention. Will respond to multiple sites in the catchment area during varied hours. This position will monitor the health, safety, and security of designated individuals via an electronic monitoring system. Will provide support as needed in the individual's home and/or community.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: High school graduate or equivalent preferred.

Experience: Experience working with intellectual/developmental disabilities is desirable. Lived experience with mental illness, intellectual/ developmental disabilities, and/or substance use disorders is valued.

Other: Good organizational and communication skills required. Functional computer literacy is required

  • Must have a valid Michigan Driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record as determined by the agency. Ability to work within a team setting.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Must possess excellent receptive language and hearing skills and be detail-oriented.
  • Responds to individuals' needs verbally, in person, or by arranging for the appropriate response.
  • Operates electronic monitoring systems, ensuring each system works properly.
  • Monitors incoming auditory clues for indication that support or intervention is needed.
  • Pays special attention to needs identified in service plans and potential emergency situations through system or in person.
  • Nurtures, comforts, and assures available opportunity for communication by individuals through monitoring systems.
  • Demonstrate effective case recording in accordance with Person Centered Planning, and NeMCMHA “Case Recording Guidelines”.
  • Follows emergency procedures. Must remain calm under pressure and possess the ability not to overreact to situations involving challenging behaviors and crises.
  • Familiarity with geographic area.
  • Ability to interact, relate, and redirect individuals served as necessary.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of universal precautions, standards of practice, and emergency protocol.

NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Performs other related duties as required.
  • May be requested to be involved in the Board’s continuous quality improvement program.
  • May be required to provide own transportation while performing agency-related duties.

Ability to walk, bend, stand, sit, lift up to 50 pounds, with or without assistance, stretch/reach, hear, see, hand/finger dexterity, and drive.
