Role Overview
As a Wheelchair Van Driver (MAVO credential required), you will be a key member of our team providing safe, dependable transportation for clients relying on wheelchair‐accessible vehicles. You’ll help patients get to doctor’s appointments, clinics, hospitals and other destinations — treating them with dignity and a smile.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate a wheelchair-accessible van, adhering to all DOT, Medicaid and agency regulations
- Pick up and transport clients on schedule — being punctual is critical
- Assist clients with boarding and disembarking — ensuring safe securement of wheelchairs
- Provide courteous, patient-first customer service and maintain a professional appearance
- Maintain accurate logs, documentation, and follow dispatch instructions
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspection and report any issues
- Maintain cleanliness and readiness of your assigned van
Qualifications
- Valid NJ Driver’s License in good standing
- MAVO certification (or able to obtain)(available inhouse)
- CPR (available inhouse)
- Comfortable driving in both urban and suburban environments throughout Ocean & Atlantic counties
- Strong communication skills and ability to interact respectfully with clients of all mobility levels
- Punctual, reliable, dependable
- Able to safely assist clients entering/exiting wheelchair vans and secure transport equipment
- Basic vehicle inspection and maintenance awareness
- Friendly, compassionate demeanor and strong customer service ethic
