Northeast Kingdom Preschool and Childcare is a non-profit parent run preschool and childcare center located on Church Street in Lyndonville. NEKPC recognizes the uniqueness of each child and the importance of learning through play in the lives of children. In this role you will:
Plan and implement a curriculum that is in line with the philosophy and educational goals of the Center.
maintain an excellent early learning program
Demonstrate verbally and by role modeling a sound knowledge of child growth and development and by implementing developmentally appropriate teaching practices
Collaborate with other teachers in creating lesson plans and a fun classroom environment
maintain an environment that is welcoming to all children and adults
Design and upkeep the physical environment to meet the changing needs of young children including some light housekeeping
Provide information to parents on a daily basis regarding their children as well as general child development information
Assist with formal and informal assessments of children
Actively attend and participate in staff meetings; Center –wide meetings; Ongoing training including in-service days and other program related training; And individual and group meetings with children and parents
participate in family and community partnerships
Promote parent involvement through parent meetings and events.
Promote Community collaboration for public awareness and partnership building
Comply with Vermont Child Care Licensing Regulations for Center-Based Child Care and Preschool Programs
Essential Qualifications:
21 qualifying credits in Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Special Education, Elementary Education, or a related field required. Minimum twelve months experience teaching in an early childhood setting, including experience providing developmental or support services to children with disabilities or other needs and their families. Knowledge of best practices for early childhood and family centered services, including ability to oversee implementation of a curriculum, classroom practices, and child observation techniques. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of a team with a wide range of people including professionals and parents. Ability to self-direct, manage multiple projects, and focus on details simultaneously.
