Duties And Responsibilities
The tasks listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional tasks related to the type of work of the class as necessary. Secure partnerships with local employers, non-profits, and industry associations to provide employment opportunities for Career Pathway certificate completers. Provide college and career coaching to Opportunity Dubuque participants with wrap-around support for program completion and employment. Participate in statewide GAP and PACE meetings and assist in the reporting requirements. Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify employment barriers and develop individualized plans. Administer academic, career, work readiness, and behavior assessments. Conduct intake and develop educational and career plans while identifying barriers. Connect students to educational, social, and workforce resources. Deliver career services: planning, resumes, job searching, and interview/soft skills.
Essential Functions
Facilitate transitions from high school, HSED , ESOL to career pathway certificate training into NICC credit programs or the workforce. Build and maintain community outreach across Dubuque neighborhoods and partner organizations. Collaborate with school districts, families, and employers to support recruitment and participation. Offer career counseling, job readiness training, and life skills development. Maintain accurate participant records and program outcomes using the College CRM (Reach). Address barriers such as time management, academic skill gaps, and digital/financial literacy. Practice cultural sensitivity toward under-represented and under-resourced populations. Provide prospective credit students with general admission and enrollment information.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS : Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Social Work, Counseling, Education, Business Administration, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred. Experience working in workforce development, youth services, education, or related fields. CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES : Must possess a valid driver’s license.
