What are the responsibilities and job description for the Driver-farm Laborer position at Northeast Iowa Artificial Insemination, Inc.?
Workers will help manage and control recent PRRS outbreaks by safely and humanely removing hogs from affected locations. They will transport both live and deceased hogs from impacted areas using pickup trucks with gooseneck trailers as well as semi-trucks. Employees will ensure that all animals are transferred and disposed of properly in accordance with established biosecurity standards. They will also perform comprehensive cleaning and sanitation of hog housing facilities, equipment, and surrounding areas to remove potential sources of contamination.
While conducting cleaning activities, workers will strictly follow recommended biosecurity procedures to prevent the spread of the PRRS virus. They will also haul feed between farms using semi-trucks while adhering to strict biosecurity practices designed to protect uninfected hog populations. In addition, workers will assist with receiving and unloading incoming hog shipments and will help maintain proper health and biosecurity protocols for newly delivered animals.
Employees will monitor the condition and well-being of newly arrived hogs and immediately report any signs of illness, unusual behavior, or other abnormalities to farm management.
