Northeast Generators is looking for a motivated, dependable Generator Maintenance Technician to join our growing service team. This position is ideal for someone with mechanical or electrical aptitude who wants to build a long-term career servicing standby generator systems.

No generator experience? That’s okay.

If you’re mechanically inclined, eager to learn, and take pride in doing quality work, we’ll provide the training you need to become a skilled generator technician.

About the Role

As a Generator Maintenance Technician, you’ll perform preventative maintenance on residential and commercial standby generators while learning from experienced senior technicians. As your skills grow, you’ll receive additional training in diagnostics, repairs, and troubleshooting with a clear path toward becoming a Generator Service Technician.

This is more than a maintenance position—it’s the first step in a long-term career.

What You’ll Do

· Perform scheduled maintenance on residential and commercial standby generators.

· Change engine oil, oil filters, air filters, spark plugs, and fuel filters.

· Inspect batteries, chargers, belts, hoses, and cooling systems.

· Check engine operation, exercise cycles, and safety systems.

· Perform operational testing under load when appropriate.

· Clean and inspect generator equipment.

· Document maintenance findings using our service software.

· Identify potential problems and report them to senior technicians.

· Maintain a clean, organized company service vehicle.

· Deliver exceptional customer service at every visit.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who enjoys working with their hands, solving problems, and learning new skills.

Ideal candidates may have experience in:

· Electrical work

· HVAC

· Diesel or automotive repair

· Small engines

· Equipment maintenance

· Mechanical assembly

· Construction trades

· Military mechanical experience

You don’t need generator experience—we’ll teach you.

Qualifications

· Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn

· Strong work ethic and positive attitude

· Ability to safely use hand and power tools

· Basic computer or smartphone skills

· Excellent communication and customer service skills

· Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

· Ability to lift 75 pounds and work outdoors in varying weather conditions

What You’ll Learn

Our training program is designed to develop skilled generator technicians.

You’ll receive hands-on training in:

· Generator preventive maintenance

· Engine operation

· Electrical fundamentals

· Automatic Transfer Switch operation

· Generator controllers

· Fuel systems

· Battery and charging systems

· Troubleshooting fundamentals

· Customer communication

· Safe work practices

As your skills improve, you’ll transition into repair work and advanced diagnostics.
