Experienced Generator Service Technician

Northeast Generators LLC is growing, and we’re looking for an experienced Generator Service Technician to join our team. We specialize in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of residential, commercial, and industrial standby generator systems throughout New Jersey.

Responsibilities

· Perform preventive maintenance on residential and commercial standby generators.

· Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical generator failures.

· Troubleshoot engine, fuel, ignition, charging, transfer switch, and control system issues.

· Perform load bank testing and operational testing.

· Read electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.

· Accurately document repairs, maintenance, and recommendations.

· Communicate professionally with customers regarding system condition and repair options.

· Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked service vehicle.

· Participate in an on-call rotation for emergency service.

Qualifications

· Minimum 5 years of generator service experience (required).

· Experience servicing residential and commercial standby generators.

· Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.

· Experience with one or more of the following manufacturers:

o Kohler

o Generac

o Cummins

o Briggs & Stratton

o Caterpillar/Olympian

· Ability to read electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.

· Familiarity with ATS operation and troubleshooting.

· Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

· Ability to lift 75 pounds and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

· Factory training or certifications.

· Electrical experience.

· Experience with diesel, natural gas, and propane generator systems.

· Experience performing load bank testing.

· Experience with remote monitoring and generator controller diagnostics.
