What are the responsibilities and job description for the IT & Systems Manager position at Northeast Generator?
At Northeast Generator, we pride ourselves on being a trusted leader in backup power solutions — and reliable technology is what keeps that promise running behind the scenes. We are seeking an IT & Systems Manager to own our company’s technology from end to end: the hardware our team works on every day, the software that runs our business, and the systems that will carry us into our next phase of growth.
This is a hands-on role for someone who is equally comfortable resolving a device issue at a desk and stepping back to ask how our systems should work better. You will be the go-to resource for every employee’s technology needs while also driving the evaluation, implementation, and improvement of the platforms that make the company more efficient. If you take ownership, communicate well, and like seeing the direct impact of your work on a growing business, we’d love to have you join us.
Responsibilities:
- Own, maintain, and extend our Zoho One environment (CRM, Books, Inventory, Flow, Sign, Writer) — build and repair workflow automations and Deluge functions, manage permissions and module customizations, and keep cross-application integrations running reliably
- Develop and implement improvements to our business systems — including quote-to-invoice automation and our field service management (FSM) platform — bringing work in-house that is currently handled by outside consultants
- Lead new system evaluations, implementations, and migrations end to end (e.g., our upcoming Zoho People rollout), recommending replacements or improvements that make the company more efficient
- Set up, license, administer, and monitor company software — including Microsoft Office 365 and other line-of-business tools
- Own the full lifecycle of all company hardware — workstations, laptops, monitors, docking stations, printers, desk phones, cell phones, and tablets — including procurement, setup, deployment, inventory tracking, repair, and replacement
- Administer mobile device management (MDM): enroll and configure company devices, enforce security policies, deploy applications, and remotely manage or wipe devices as needed
- Manage user accounts and access across all systems: set up accounts and equipment for new hires, adjust permissions as roles change, and promptly deactivate access at offboarding
- Serve as the first point of contact for all hardware and software issues; troubleshoot and resolve problems promptly so employees can stay productive
- Coordinate with our managed IT/security vendor on endpoint protection, patching, email security, and backups; maintain core IT security and continuity practices
- Manage relationships with technology vendors and service providers; track licenses, subscriptions, renewals, and overall IT spend
- Document systems, configurations, and procedures — including existing automations — so institutional knowledge lives in-house; train employees on the tools they use day to day
- Other duties as assigned to support the overall success of the company
- Typical standard working hours for position: 8am – 5pm ET, Monday – Friday
- Position may require occasional after-hours support during storms, power events, or system outages requiring attention
Skills/Requirements:
- Hands-on experience administering and customizing Zoho applications (CRM, Books, and Flow at minimum) is required; Deluge scripting and API/integration experience is strongly preferred
- 3 years of hands-on IT administration experience, ideally in a small or mid-sized business where you owned IT end to end
- Demonstrated ability to build, debug, and document business workflow automations — you will be asked to walk through a real troubleshooting scenario in the interview
- Proficiency administering Microsoft 365 and managing Windows workstations plus iOS/Android mobile devices; experience with an MDM platform
- Working knowledge of networking fundamentals (Wi-Fi, firewalls, VPN) and IT security best practices
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to communicate clearly with non-technical users
- Highly organized and self-directed, with the ability to manage projects from evaluation through implementation
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required
