The HRIS Specialist is responsible for the administration, maintenance, auditing, and optimization of Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) while ensuring the integrity, security, and compliance of employee data across Human Resources, Payroll, Benefits, Timekeeping, and Compliance functions. This role serves as a key liaison between HR, Payroll, Benefits, Finance, Operations, and Information Technology to support organizational objectives through accurate data management, reporting, system administration, and regulatory compliance.


The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of HR and Payroll processes, data governance, compliance requirements, and system functionality. Experience supporting audits, regulatory reporting, and complex HR technology environments is highly preferred.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


HRIS Administration & Support


Maintain and support HRIS platforms and related systems, ensuring data accuracy and system functionality.

Process and validate employee lifecycle transactions, including hires, transfers, promotions, status changes, and terminations.

Configure and maintain organizational structures, security roles, workflows, and business processes.

Support system upgrades, testing, implementations, and enhancement projects.

Troubleshoot system issues and coordinate resolutions with vendors and internal stakeholders.

Develop and maintain system documentation, standard operating procedures, and training materials.

Data Management & Governance


Perform routine audits to ensure accuracy and completeness of employee, payroll, benefits, and workforce management data.

Monitor data integrity through reconciliation processes and exception reporting.

Conduct mass data uploads, imports, and data correction activities.

Establish and maintain data governance standards and best practices.

Identify opportunities for process automation and operational efficiency.

Compliance & Auditing


Conduct periodic audits to ensure compliance with company policies and federal, state, and local regulations.

Support internal and external audits related to HR, Payroll, Benefits, Timekeeping, and Compliance programs.

Assist with preparation and validation of regulatory reporting, including:

ACA Reporting (1094-C and 1095-C)

EEO-1 Reporting

VETS-4212 Reporting

OSHA Reporting

Wage and Hour Compliance

State and Local Employment Reporting

Audit employee records and system configurations to ensure compliance with applicable labor laws and collective bargaining agreements.

Support documentation and evidence gathering during compliance reviews and audits.

Payroll & Benefits Support


Partner with Payroll to ensure accurate employee data feeds and payroll processing.

Audit payroll-related data including earnings, deductions, taxes, direct deposits, and accrual balances.

Support benefits administration processes including eligibility audits, enrollment audits, and vendor file validations.

Monitor inbound and outbound benefit and payroll integrations.

Assist with year-end payroll activities and reporting requirements.

Reporting & Analytics


Develop, maintain, and distribute HR, Payroll, Benefits, and Compliance reports.

Create dashboards and metrics to support business decision-making.

Analyze trends and identify data discrepancies or process improvement opportunities.

Support leadership with workforce analytics and operational reporting.

Minimum of 3 years of HRIS, HR Operations, Payroll, Benefits, or Workforce Management experience.

Experience maintaining HR systems and employee data records.

Strong understanding of HR, Payroll, Benefits, and Timekeeping processes.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including:

Pivot Tables

VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP

Data Validation

Reporting and Data Analysis

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent organizational and communication skills.
