The Human Resources Generalist / Payroll Specialist is responsible for supporting daily HR operations and ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing. This role handles employee relations, benefits administration, onboarding, compliance, timekeeping, payroll reporting, and HR record maintenance while ensuring adherence to company policies and labor laws.
Responsibilities:
Human Resources Duties
- Manage employee onboarding and offboarding processes
- Maintain employee personnel files and HR databases
- Respond to employee questions regarding payroll, benefits, and policies
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws
- Prepare HR reports and maintain confidential records
Payroll Duties
- Process weekly, biweekly, or semi-monthly payroll accurately and on time
- Review and verify employee timesheets and attendance records
- Maintain payroll records, deductions, garnishments, and tax information
- Ensure compliance with payroll regulations and tax requirements
- Process payroll adjustments, bonuses, commissions, and reimbursements
- Reconcile payroll reports and assist with audits
- Coordinate with finance/accounting regarding payroll entries and reporting
- Respond to payroll-related employee inquiries
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting, or related field preferred
- 2–5 years of HR and payroll experience
- Knowledge of payroll systems and HRIS platforms
- Understanding of labor laws, payroll regulations, and HR best practices
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- High level of confidentiality and attention to detail
- Sound judgment and problem-solving skills
- Customer-focused attitude, with high level of professionalism and discretion
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
Compensation:
- Rate will be commensurate with experience.
