Job Description and Requirements
The Design Sales Consultant is responsible for generating, designing, and closing luxury custom cabinetry projects for Northeast Architectural showrooms. This role requires a balance of consultative sales skills and design expertise to serve discerning homeowners, architects, and builders. The Design Sales Consultant must demonstrate fluency in two distinct but complementary platforms: Crane by Northeast (domestically manufactured, bespoke cabinetry) and Cabbonet (European luxury cabinetry). By blending technical knowledge, aesthetic sensibility, and a sales-driven mindset, the consultant ensures projects meet client aspirations while delivering profitable results for the company.
This position is highly client-facing, requiring showroom-based sales, design development, and on-site consultations as needed. Success in the role depends on building strong relationships, creating compelling designs, and confidently guiding clients through the entire journey—from concept to contract to delivery.
Responsibilities specific to the Design Sales Consultant:
- Drive revenue growth by actively prospecting, qualifying, and closing cabinetry projects from the Northeast Architectural showrooms.
- Provide expert design services, including space planning, cabinetry layouts, finish selections, and integration of appliances, hardware, and surfaces.
- Create and present professional design drawings and 3D renderings using SketchUp or similar platforms.
- Master product knowledge across both Crane and Cabbonet lines to recommend solutions aligned with client style, functionality, and budget.
- Develop and present professional design proposals, schedules, and quotes using company design and quoting tools.
- Partner with architects, builders, interior designers, and homeowners to ensure projects are executed seamlessly from design intent through installation.
- Manage the sales pipeline in CRM, documenting activity, forecasting accurately, and maintaining high conversion rates.
- Collaborate with project managers, estimators, and operations staff to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and profitability.
- Maintain a showroom presence that elevates the customer experience through merchandising, storytelling, and professionalism.
- Attend ongoing product training, factory visits, and industry events to maintain expertise and credibility as a trusted advisor.
Qualifications
- 3 years of experience in kitchen design, cabinetry sales, or related high-end residential design/sales roles.
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets in a consultative selling environment.
- Proficiency with SketchUp or similar 3D design software; CAD knowledge a plus.
- Strong design sensibility with the ability to translate client needs into functional, beautiful solutions.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with both homeowners and industry professionals.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects, timelines, and client expectations simultaneously.
- Strong business acumen with an understanding of project budgets, gross margin, and profitability.
- Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field preferred, but equivalent professional experience considered.
