This is an outdoor, physical job in Middle Tennessee — heat, cold mornings, wet boots, and uneven terrain. You'll carry equipment, swing a machete, dig holes, and be on your feet all day. Northcutt Surveying is a family-owned company based in Shelbyville, TN. What You'll Do

• Work alongside the Crew Chief on boundary surveys, construction layout, and topographic projects

• Operate GNSS/GPS equipment and data collectors in the field

• Carry and set up field equipment across varied terrain

• Cut vegetation and clear lines with a machete — and keep it sharp

• Dig holes and set survey monuments

• Keep accurate field notes and communicate clearly with the crew

• Stock and organize field trucks before and after every job

• Keep company vehicles fueled, clean, and road-ready

• Help keep the office and shop clean and organized

• Step in wherever the team needs you — field, shop, or office

What We're Looking For

• A hard worker — shows up on time, stays focused all day, doesn't need to be pushed

• Physically capable — outdoor work in all weather, on your feet, moving constantly

• Sharp and detail-oriented — precision matters in this trade; accuracy is everything

• Someone with character — takes ownership, doesn't pass blame, does what's right even when it's uncomfortable

• A team player who looks out for the crew — if something needs doing, you do it

• Honest communicator — if there's a problem with equipment, data, or scheduling, you bring it to leadership

• Background in construction, agriculture, utilities, landscaping, or military is a real advantage

• Survey experience is a plus but not required — we'll teach the right person

• Valid driver's license with a clean record (required)
