Job Description


Introduction:  

The purpose of this position is to modify and maintain work order system job processes, coordinate work and service orders between customer service, engineering, warehouse, and construction and to prepare, issue, and complete material requisitions for line crews, contractors, and operations personnel for material and supplies required in the construction and maintenance of the electric distribution system.


Supervisor:  Warehouse and Materials Supervisor


Knowledge/Education Requirements:

  1. High School diploma or E.D. Two-year degree in business administration, warehouse management, purchasing and supply or related field is preferable.
  2. General knowledge of electric distribution system overhead and underground materials, equipment, and supplies used in utility construction and maintenance is preferable.
  3. Knowledge of inventory control, customer service, engineering, and construction processes, or budgeting is
  4. Thorough understanding of UPN/SEDC processes and workflows is
  5. Must be able to multi-task, read sketches and staking
  6. Must be proficient in the use of calculators, computers, and other office Experience with Microsoft Office is desirable.
  7. Must have good communication skills, verbally and in writing, and work with Northcentral employees and vendors in a courteous and effective manner.
  8. Must be able to safely operate a forklift and line truck.


Duties/Responsibilities:


 Essential Functions:

  1. Assist with the creation, modification, and maintenance of work order job processes and workflows in UPN/SEDC.
  2. Coordinate work and sketch flow between engineering, warehousing, and construction personnel to ensure job continuity.
  3. Document all transactions involving inventory utilizing necessary computers and software platforms to issue, track, fulfill, and reconcile material requisitions for crews and other cooperative personnel.
  4. Assist with periodic and annual physical inventory to properly account for the use of material
  5. Assist in maintaining a safe and orderly warehouse/pole yard and ensure safe working practices are followed in the warehouse and storage areas.
  6. Assists in the coordination of shipping and receiving freight items to ensure proper accounting and billing of shipping charges.
  7. Work closely with construction and contractors to ensure near-future, weekly, and daily material requisitions are ready when needed.
  8. Utilizes work management and electronic staking systems to assist in inventory
  9. Ensure accurate and complete documentation is submitted to GIS for mapping to be updated.
  10. Receives SAFEApp hazard recognition reports, and creates, assigns, and tracks work order or service order progress until completion.



Non-Essential Functions:

    1. Performs other duties as needed.


Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to remain stationary for extended periods of time, constantly operate a computer or other office equipment, frequently move about the office and warehouse, occasionally ascends/descends a ladder or steps, occasionally positions self to maintain/inventory items in the warehouse and office, frequently communicates with other employees and must be able to exchange accurate information, must be able to observe/detect/perceive/asses/identify displayed and printed information on the computer and paper, frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pound and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Most of the work in this position is indoors with occasional outdoor work.
