Summary Of Duties And Responsibilities
The Director of Family Preservation Services plans, organizes, and directs agency activities to advance the scope, quality, and effectiveness of NorthCare’s Family Preservation Services for children, adults, and families. This position provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for assigned programs, ensuring services are delivered effectively, meet organizational and regulatory standards, and support the needs of individuals and families served.
The position is supervised by the Program Officer and provides direct supervision to managers, supervisors, and staff within assigned program areas. The Director provides leadership, guidance, and accountability to program leadership and staff while promoting high-quality service delivery, collaboration, continuous improvement, and alignment with NorthCare’s mission and goals.
Primary Duties And Responsibilities
  • Ensure that all staff comply with agency policies and procedures.
  • Ensure supervised programs are in compliance with contractual obligations, funding requirements and agency guidelines.
  • Analyze the effectiveness of program policies, procedures and practices and makes recommendations for their adoption or revision as needed.
  • Ensure the quality and quantity of work produced by staff members meets or exceeds organizational standards.
  • Assist in the identification and development of new services to meet the needs of the community.
  • Provides clinical supervision and consultation in both planned and crisis situations.
  • Maintain program compliance in regard to Quality Improvement issues.
  • Coordinate program evaluations and quality improvement activities within supervised programs.
  • Facilitate responsive relationships with representatives of contracting agencies (OKDHS, ODMHSAS, OHCA, OUHSC, etc.) and other community partners.
  • Maintain professional competency in the area under his/her responsibility through appropriate readings, attendance at workshops and conferences, and through consultation with other professionals.
  • Manage income and expenses to ensure the fiscal viability of programs under scope of supervision.
  • Promote an environment that enhances employee motivation and satisfaction.
  • Perform other duties as required and/or assigned by supervisor and/or executive staff.
  • Work collaboratively with fellow directors to ensure outstanding patient care and community relations.
Qualifications
Requirements, Special Skills or Knowledge:
  • Master’s degree in a behavioral health field and/or bachelor’s degree in a behavioral health field with a minimum of two (2) years of management experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of behavioral health services, family preservation programming, and service delivery to children, adults, and families.
  • Strong leadership, supervisory, and program management skills, with the ability to provide direction and oversight to managers, supervisors, and staff.
  • Strong organizational, administrative, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including children, adults, families, and community partners.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, think critically, and make effective decisions in a fast-paced service environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and general computer systems.
  • Ability to travel locally to support program operations, meetings, and community activities.
  • Must possess and maintain CAPE certification. If not current upon hire, certification must be obtained within thirty (30) days of employment with NorthCare.
  • Must complete Core Level Co-Occurring Training and Trauma-Informed Training within sixty (60) days of employment with NorthCare.
  • Must have a TB test within twelve (12) months prior to employment with NorthCare or obtain testing within thirty (30) days of employment.
  • As appropriate for the specific job assignment, must possess and maintain current CPR and First Aid certification.
Preferred Requirements, Special Skills Or Knowledge
  • Professional Oklahoma clinical licensure or eligibility for clinical licensure under supervision, as applicable to the position.
  • Experience in family preservation, child and family services, behavioral health, or community-based services.
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and/or multiple program areas.
  • Experience working in a community behavioral health or nonprofit environment.
  • Experience with program development, quality improvement, compliance, and performance management.
  • Experience working with state and/or federal behavioral health programs and regulatory requirements.
Working Conditions / ADA Requirements
  • Primarily office-based with local travel to program sites and community locations as needed.
  • Prolonged sitting and computer use.
  • Frequent keyboarding and repetitive hand motions.
  • Ability to move throughout facilities, including bending, stooping, and climbing stairs.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
  • Must possess a valid Oklahoma driver’s license and maintain required automobile liability insurance, including uninsured motorist coverage, throughout employment with NorthCare.
  • Must demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills in English and the ability to communicate effectively with consumers, staff, community partners, and other stakeholders.
