What are the responsibilities and job description for the Volleyball Instructor - Junior High Volleyball League position at NORTHBROOK PARK DISTRICT?
Do you have experience playing or coaching volleyball? The Northbrook Park District is hiring Volleyball Instructors to join our team for evening and weekend programs! Share your passion for the sport by coaching middle school-aged kids with varying skill levels in our exciting Junior High Volleyball League. In this role, you'll be responsible for teaching the fundamentals of volleyball—including rules, techniques, and gameplay strategies—while providing proper guidance and support to each participant. Instruction may vary based on the students’ skill level and age range, and you'll be expected to follow established program guidelines while demonstrating a strong commitment to the Mission, Vision, and Guiding Principles of the District.
Pay & Schedule:
$15.50 - $18.00 Per Hour
This is a part-time, non-exempt position.
Wednesdays 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM
Sundays 3:00 PM -4:00 PM
Duties & Responsibilities:

Develops and implements lessons supporting the established program curriculum.

Actively engages all students and provides them support and constructive feedback.

Tracks attendance and documents student progress, when required.

Prepares students for end of session shows or recitals as needed.

Arrives before class start time to inspect instruction space, set up equipment and supplies if needed and greet students.

Regularly updates Leisure Services Supervisor on the condition of the teaching space and equipment.

Plans and organizes performances and recital(s), when required.

Diligently follows and adheres to all safety policies and procedures.

Collaborates with internal and external customers in a positive manner.

Follows safe work practices.

Attends trainings and meetings as required.

Performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Must be 16 years of age or older. Training and experience in the subject area being taught which provides the following knowledge, ability and skills.
Skills & Abilities
- Lead and interact positively with children and adults
- Teach through demonstration of subject matter being taught
- Can work independently and efficiently
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Work with co-workers and the public in a professional manner during stressful situations
- Become CPR/AED Certified
Knowledge
- Thorough knowledge of subject material being taught
- Hands-on experience working with children
- District safety policies and procedures
