Roles and Responsibilities:
Computer teacher (0.6 FTE)
•Create a welcoming, inclusive, culturally responsive classroom environment that is conducive to students’ learning and their ability to comfortably share their authentic selves.
•Apply basic principles and concepts for digital literacy and computer science in Computing and Society, Digital Tools and Collaboration, Computing Systems, and Computational Thinking as outlined in the Digital Literacy Computer Science Framework.
•Demonstrate familiarity with the integration of standards for literacy across the content areas as outlined in the ELA/Literacy Framework.
•Make effective use of technology tools and resources to:
ocontinuously assess student learning and technology literacy by applying a rich variety of formative and summative assessments aligned with content and student technology standards
osystematically collect and analyze student achievement data, interpret results, and communicate findings to improve instructional practice and maximize student learning
•Employ effective classroom management to maximize student use of digital tools and resources
•Explore and integrate technology to promote curiosity, deepened learning, creativity, and collaboration.
•Teach students to work collaboratively to solve problems and think logically and creatively.
•Support students in creating culminating projects that enable them to apply their DLCS skills by engaging them in a variety of authentic learning (real world) opportunities
•Maintain digital literacy and computer science knowledge and best practice through professional development, seeking opportunities to grow professionally recognizing that the field is dynamic
•Assist in maintaining hardware and software for the program
•Seek opportunities within the community to expose students to innovative and emerging technologies and the effects they may have on the workplace, individuals, communities, and global society.
NES Instructional Technologist (0.4 FTE):
•Collaborates with teachers and models the use of instructional technology to develop curriculum materials and specific lesson plans that integrate technology.
•Develops, organizes, and implements appropriate staff training relating to technology education and integration.
•Supports teachers and administration with technology and technology platforms related to curriculum, instruction and assessments
•Such other responsibilities as may from time to time be assigned by the Director of Technology & Innovation and/or building principal.
Evaluation:
The NMS Principal will be the primary evaluator for this position (computer science teacher), with contributing evaluations done by NES administration (instructional technology) in accordance with the provisions of the Northbridge Teacher’s Association.
Employment Terms:
The work year of the employee shall follow the negotiated NTA collective bargaining agreement.
Salary : $56,177 - $100,275
