Home Economics / Culinary Arts Teacher

Northbridge Public Schools is seeking a talented and enthusiastic Home Economics/Culinary Arts Teacher to join our dynamic team of high school educators. As a Home Economics Teacher, you will play a critical role in providing our students with hands-on experiences and expert instruction in all aspects of home economics and culinary arts. This is a new elective pathway for our high school, so we are looking for someone to help us build the program from the ground up. Performance Responsibilities: •Lead the implementation of the culinary arts and Family and Consumer Science (FCS) pathway by developing and refining course offerings that integrate culinary techniques, life skills, and consumer education, ensuring a clear progression of skills and aligning with industry standards and certification requirements. •Instruct and engage students in culinary arts, nutrition, food preparation, meal planning, and kitchen safety, alongside other FCS topics such as personal finance, family dynamics, and consumer decision-making, creating a well-rounded, hands-on learning environment. •Supervise and manage student activities in the kitchen setting, as well as other FCS labs (e.g., sewing), ensuring proper safety, sanitation, and adherence to health codes. •Build and maintain community partnerships with local businesses, restaurants, organizations, and industry professionals to provide students with real-world experiences, internships, and job opportunities in both culinary and family and consumer science fields. •Assess student performance in both culinary and FCS areas through written exams, practical demonstrations, project-based learning, and presentations, providing constructive feedback to support their growth in career readiness and personal development.
