Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Partnership Tax Professional to support the tax compliance, reporting, and planning needs of our firm’s management company and general partner entities. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in partnership taxation and demonstrate experience in private equity, venture capital, or asset management environments. This role will also involve collaboration with accounting, legal, and investment teams, providing valuable insights into fund structures and operations.
Key Responsibilities:
GP & Management Company Accounting:
- Support general ledger maintenance, reconciliations, and financial reporting for the GP and management company entities.
- Work closely with FP&A and fund controllers to track and allocate shared costs (e.g., overhead, salaries, service agreements).
- Assist in tracking GP commitments, contributions, and distributions across multiple funds.
- Prepare or review capital account rollforwards, ownership waterfall models, and carried interest allocations.
- Partner with finance leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and audit preparation.
Partnership Tax:
- Manage and prepare (or oversee preparation of) federal, state, and local tax returns for partnership entities including GP and management companies.
- Review Schedule K-1s, ensuring accurate allocation of income, expenses, and capital across complex ownership structures.
- Assist with quarterly and annual tax estimates and provisions for partners and related entities.
- Monitor and apply tax law changes impacting partnerships, especially related to carried interest, IRC §704(b), §704(c), §707(a)/(c), and §751.
- Coordinate with external tax advisors and service providers.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Liaise with Legal, Compliance, and IR teams to support structuring, partner communications, and reporting obligations.
- Provide tax and financial input on new fund launches, restructuring, or other strategic initiatives.
