What are the responsibilities and job description for the Obstetrical Technician (Per Diem, Day) position at Northbay?
At NorthBay Healthcare the obstetrical technician (OBT) is responsible and accountable for scrubbing for all OB surgeries in Labor & Delivery. In the absence of the unit clerk the OBT also performs unit clerk functions to include general clerical and reception duties.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Utilize sterile technique to surgically assist physicians with such procedures as c/sections and tubal ligations.
- Function effectively during obstetrical emergencies.
- Prepare the surgical and delivery rooms and for assisting with patient care duties as assigned.
- Works in collaboration with the entire healthcare team to provide each patient and family member excellent customer service.

Qualifications:
Education:
- High school graduate or equivalent.
Licensure:
- Surgical Technician Certification or documented competency with 6 months experience required.
- Current AHA or equivalent CPR Certification required.
Experience:
- Previous experience as an operating room/obstetrical technician required.
- Prior unit clerk/secretarial experience with medical terminology preferred.
- Prior experience with the delivery process and newborns preferred.
Skills:
- Must have knowledge of the basic concepts necessary for the performance of the duties expected of the operating room technician.
- Must have knowledge of medical terminology, be able to transcribe orders and perform computer order entry.
Work Hours:
- Total Hours: At least four (4) shifts each month, or more as determined by the department's per diem availability standard and process
- Shift: 12-hour shifts
Compensation:
- 10% per diem differential
- Plus, Generous Shift Differentials
Salary : $47 - $57
