Job Description
At NorthBay Health, the Ultrasonographer I, works closely under the review of the Ultrasound Lead. Under regular check ins and supervision, coordinates daily patient schedule for U/S. Performs U/S studies and insures correct processing and handling. Helps in other areas of radiology such as front desk, reception, etc. Ensures proper equipment maintenance and cleanliness. Assists clerical staff when possible. Attends seminars and in-services. Takes call and standby as needed. Promotes a cooperative and positive relationship with physicians and other hospital staff/departments.
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES
- Performs ultrasound examinations in accordance to established protocols under review of the lead Ultrasonographer.
- Assists and instructs patients prior and during examinations.
- Responsible for evaluating each study to ensure it meets required quality standards.
- Responsible for patient confidentiality, safety and well being during examinations.
- Responsible for inspecting and cleaning equipment prior to use.
- Reports to ultrasound supervisor all equipment failures and/or malfunctions.
- Reports all patient complaints, discrepancies and drug reactions according to the QA policies.
- Responsible for processing images, organizing paper work and completing charge sheets.
- Works in other areas of the department such as reception, assisting transfer, transport, etc.
- Organizational standards for Joint Commission, Patient Safety and the Department of Heath will be met or exceeded
- Takes call and/or standby when required.

Qualifications
Education:
- Graduate from approved ultrasound course.
Licensure:
- RDMS or ARRT (Sonography) eligible.
- Must be registered within 12 months of hire.
- BLS certification.
Experience:
- 6 months experience preferred.
Skills:
- Must demonstrate and maintain current knowledge and skill in providing appropriate care for patient in the following age groups: Geriatric, Adult, Young Adult, Pediatric and Neonatal.

Hours of Work: Variable.
Compensation:
- Hourly Salary Range Min $71.57 - Max $86.98 (Offered hourly rate based on years of experience)
- 10% per diem differential included in salary range
- Plus, Generous Shift Differentials
