At NorthBay Health, the Manager of Community Engagement plays a critical role in strengthening relationships and advancing community-focused initiatives across Solano and Yolo Counties. Reporting to the Director of Community Engagement, this position is responsible for executing local community engagement strategies, cultivating partnerships, and representing NorthBay Health as a trusted healthcare partner and community anchor institution.
This role works closely with Public Affairs, Marketing and Communications to ensure community engagement activities are aligned with NorthBay Health’s advocacy priorities, public policy positioning, and regional relationship strategy. The Manager focuses on on-the-ground engagement, relationship management, and program execution to support NorthBay Health’s mission to improve the well-being of our communities by providing conveniently accessible, high-quality care.

Primary Job Responsibilities
Community Engagement & Outreach
- Serve as the primary community engagement lead for Solano and Yolo Counties. As the team grows, the regions may expand in scope.
- Support other counties’ Community Engagement initiatives as needed.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local nonprofit organizations, FQHCs, schools, business associations, chambers of commerce, faith-based organizations, and community leaders.
- Represent NorthBay Health at community meetings, local events, health fairs, and educational forums.
- Coordinate and support community sponsorships focused on relationship-building, stewardship and local presence, outreach events, and local partnerships in alignment with organizational priorities.
- Serve as a visible and trusted presence in the community, ensuring NorthBay Health’s values and voice are reflected in local conversations related to health and wellness.
- Identify emerging community needs, opportunities, and concerns and communicate insights to the Director of Community Engagement.
- Serve as a liaison between community partners and internal teams, including clinical, population health, patient experience, marketing, philanthropy (NorthBay Health Foundation), and public affairs.
- Support the planning and execution of community health education programs, wellness initiatives, and outreach activities responsive to local community health needs.
- Assist in maintaining active engagement with local government agencies, school districts, nonprofit organizations, and advocacy groups within assigned counties.
- Coordinate with the Public Affairs team to support relationships with elected officials, public agencies, and civic leaders as appropriate.
- Provide local insights and intelligence to Public Affairs leadership related to community sentiment, emerging issues, and stakeholder concerns.
- Support grant-related outreach by identifying potential partners and assisting with coordination efforts as needed.
- Partner with Marketing and Communications leadership to support community-facing messaging and materials that reflect NorthBay Health’s mission, values, and community impact.
- Collaborate with the Public Affairs team to ensure community engagement efforts align with advocacy priorities, legislative initiatives, and external affairs strategies.
- Identify local opportunities for storytelling and public recognition of NorthBay Health’s community contributions and partnerships.
- Support storytelling efforts by flagging internal communications that highlight community impact.
- Maintain accurate records of community engagements, partnerships, and outreach activities.
- Assist in tracking engagement metrics and community impact outcomes for reporting and evaluation purposes.
- Support preparation of reports, summaries, and dashboards for leadership review.
- Assist with the coordination of community engagement activities to ensure alignment and avoid duplication across departments.
- Education. Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Public Health, Community Development, Marketing, or a related field required.
- Experience: Minimum four years progressively responsible management experience with a minimum (4) of three (3) of relevant job experience. Minimum 3–5 years of experience in community engagement, community relations, public affairs, nonprofit work, or healthcare outreach. Experience working directly with community organizations and diverse populations. Familiarity with Solano and/or Yolo County communities strongly preferred.
- Skills: Strong relationship-building, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to represent the organization professionally in community and public-facing settings. Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and community initiatives. Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Understanding of community health needs and social determinants of health. Understanding of public affairs, government relations, or civic engagement principles within a healthcare or nonprofit environment. Ability to track engagement activity, outcomes, and metrics. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and basic CRM or stakeholder tracking tools. Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive engagement. - Hours: Based on business need. Monday through Friday; eight hours each day.
- Compensation: $110-150k annually based on years of experience doing the duties of the role.
