Leeds Elementary School Tiered Support Specialist (1)DESE certification Elementary 1-6 required. 35 hours per weekMonday through Friday from 7:25 a.m. 2:25 p.m. Start date: August 24, 2026 Teacher Unit A Salary Scale based on experience and degree.Definition: Under MGL Chapter 222: An Act Relative to Student Access to Educational Services and Exclusion from School, the Northampton Public School are seeking skilled certified professional teachers.
The Tiered Support Specialist will develop and establish mentoring relationships with students who are struggling to find success due to academic, social-emotional and/or behavioral challenges. The positions require individuals who are experienced and comfortable with managing challenging behavior. The TSS will also work with the School-based Student Service Team to coordinate tiered interventions and supports for students.Supervision: The Tiered Support Professional will work under the direction of the building principal.Essential Functions: Developing, implementing and staffing a re-engagement center within the school in collaboration and under the direction of the building principal. The re-engagement center will serve as a temporary educational alternative in which academic instruction will be provided, as needed across curricular areas.Supporting administration, teachers, and specialists in the implementation of behavioral intervention while assisting teachers in delivery of education services.*Collecting, analyzing and reporting behavioral data including conduct reports and restraints as required by Massachusetts general law.Work with regular and special education teachers as well as caseload educators to coordinate and case manage tiered instruction and related services.Collaborating with classroom and special education teachers to support student academic achievement.Other duties as deemed appropriate by the principalSpecific Responsibilities: The TSS will play a critical role in maintaining school behavioral norms and maintaining a high level of student decorum.
Provide consistent and high academic and behavioral expectations.Support for students struggling with misbehavior, both when attending there-engagement center and when transitioning back to their regular classes.Communicate effectively with students, families, colleagues and related serviceproviders.Minimum Qualifications: Education and Experience: Preference will be given to candidates with Special Education certification, school-based experience, a background in special education, counseling and behavior intervention as well as having worked with at-risk populations. Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.If Hired: Must have acceptable MA CORI and SAFIS National Fingerprint Background Checks prior to employment.
