Job Description
POSITION PURPOSE:
Provide office and field support for Environmental Compliance, Safety & Health, Radiation Protection, and Quality Assurance/Controls programs and tasks for a variety of work, including but not limited to, oversight of written programs; data review and approval of reports, plans and procedures; performance of inspections, surveillances, assessments, and audits; and other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Note: The ESH&Q Manager will provide broad oversight for the Moab and Crescent Junction sites as assigned by the Program Manager. The following list is representative but not all inclusive:
Oversee and manage the environmental compliance, safety, health, radiation protection, and quality programs and personnel for the project.
Ensure that ESH&Q services are performed per DOE and project ESH&Q standards, programs, and procedures.
Support integrated work control program through engaging management, technical staff, and operations personnel for all phases of project
Establish and maintain integrated safety management system for all tasks and phases of the project to ensure environmental and worker safety and quality.
Establish and maintain conduct of operations program to ensure safety, quality, and compliance for all phases of the work.
Review and conduct appropriate follow-up on Incident Reports.
Ensure adherence and staff alignment with Quality Control or Health & Safety policies and procedures.
Make recommendations for improvements and revisions as needed. Represent the Company with credibility and professionalism in client meetings, inspections, and project related engagements.
Conduct periodic on-site surveillance of project activities, developing reports in a timely manner, and following through to closure.
Initiate required follow up, notice of corrective action, and feedback to applicable project team members.
Report departmental metrics supporting the ESH&Q strategic plan
Provide ongoing status updates to senior management.
Plan, prioritize, and organize work assignments for the department, delegating tasks appropriately to staff members.
Ensure that staff receives training, career development, performance management, and coaching to effectively perform within the organization.
As required, serve as an on-site project leader.
In addition to the accountabilities above, other responsibilities, tasks, and deliverables may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
A Bachelor of Science degree in a related discipline with at least 6 years of relevant experience. Professional certification(s) CHP, CSP, CIH (A combination of education and experience may be substituted for this requirement). Experience in the DOE complex with radioactive remediation projects is a plus.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Proficient in word-processing and database applications including MS Office applications Word, Excel, Access, as well as Adobe Acrobat, etc.
Demonstrated ability to work accurately, follow instructions/schedules/timelines and handle multiple priorities.
Strong communication, prioritization and organizational skills.
Excellent proof-reading and writing skills.
Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal) with field, project management, and client representatives.
Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
Ability to participate in physically demanding work while wearing PPE.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must pass pre-employment background check.
