What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Teacher position at North Village Preschool?
North Village Preschool is a nurturing, play-based learning center dedicated to fostering the cognitive, social, emotional, and physical growth of young children.
We are hiring an Assistant Teacher to begin in September. Part time or full time available.
Responsibilities include supervising classroom activities, engaging with the children, assisting with lesson plan implementation, facilitating daily routines (snacks, naptime, and bathroom), and promoting social-emotional development.
- Classroom Support: Assist the Lead Teacher in preparing materials and executing daily, age-appropriate lesson plans.
- Student Supervision: Keep children within sight and supervise at all times to ensure physical safety on the playground and in the classroom.
- Behavioral Guidance: Utilize positive reinforcement to help children resolve conflicts and develop social skills.
- Basic Needs: Facilitate daily routines, including setting up snacks, organizing nap areas, and assisting the children with bathroom needs and hygiene.
- Parent Communication: Greet families daily, provide updates on their child's day.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Minimum of a High School Diploma; Early Childhood Education coursework or certification highly preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 6–12 months of experience working with toddler and preschool-aged children in a licensed childcare or educational setting.
- Certifications: CPR and First Aid certifications, or willingness to obtain upon hiring.
- Background Checks: Ability to pass state-mandated criminal background checks and fingerprinting.
- Mobility & Agility: Must frequently bend, stoop, squat, sit on the floor, and run to keep up with young children.
- Lifting: Must be able to comfortably lift and carry children or heavy classroom supplies weighing between 25 to 50 lbs depending.
- Endurance: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain high physical energy throughout the day.
Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
