Position Summary:
The Elementary STEAM Teacher is responsible for designing and delivering innovative, standards-based instruction that integrates science, technology, engineering, the arts, and mathematics for students in grades K–6. The teacher creates a student-centered learning environment where curiosity, creativity, and collaboration are encouraged through project-based and experiential learning. Working closely with classroom teachers, the STEAM Teacher supports cross-curricular integration, promotes the effective use of technology, and helps students develop the skills necessary to become creative thinkers, effective communicators, and lifelong learners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging, hands-on STEAM lessons aligned with state academic standards.
- Foster inquiry, innovation, and problem-solving through project-based learning experiences.
- Integrate engineering design, coding, robotics, makerspace activities, digital literacy, and artistic creativity into instruction.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to reinforce and extend grade-level curriculum through STEAM experiences.
- Create a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment that encourages exploration, experimentation, and responsible risk-taking.
- Utilize instructional technology and emerging educational tools to enhance student learning.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of all students.
- Maintain and organize STEAM materials, equipment, makerspace resources, and technology.
- Promote digital citizenship and responsible use of technology.
- Participate in professional learning and remain current with best practices in STEAM education and instructional technology.
- Build positive relationships with students, families, staff, and community partners to support STEAM initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or Science/Technology related field
- Valid state teaching license
- Knowledge of child development and elementary instructional strategies
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families
Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to develop and lead project based lesson involving small tools and components
- Familiarity with integrating technology
Work Environment:
