What are the responsibilities and job description for the Endoscopy RN (Part time) position at North Valley Endoscopy Center?
- This job is for pre-op, intra-op, and post-op. Required to learn all roles. Experience is preferred.
- Looking for someone to work full time with our schedule of Monday through Friday for the part time position 3 to 4 days a week. Shifts start ~5:45am and vary from 1:00 to 2:30 pm depending on procedure run times.
- We are looking for a Registered Nurse for an outpatient endoscopy setting to care for our patients and help facilitate their procedure from start to discharge. You will be responsible for educating them and their families on prevention and healthy habits. The ideal candidate will be a responsible and well-trained professional able to give the best nursing care with little supervision. You will be compassionate and cool-tempered. You will be able to follow health and safety guidelines faithfully and consistently. The goal is to promote patient’s well-being by providing high quality nursing care.
Responsibilities
- Monitor patient’s condition and assess their needs to provide the best possible care and advice
- Observe and interpret patient’s symptoms and communicate them to physicians
- Collaborate with physicians and nurses to devise individualized care plans for patients
- Perform routine procedures (blood pressure measurements, administering injections etc.) and fill in patients’ charts
- Adequate understanding of a wide variety of medical/surgical terminology and pathophysiology, endoscopy procedures and required patient preparations. Skilled in venipuncture.
- Adjust and administer patient’s medication and provide treatments according to physician’s orders
- Understanding of proper positioning techniques, and sedating agents’ effects, including moderate sedation and MAC.
- Knowledge of endoscopy procedures, techniques, symptoms and complications of endoscopy, anesthesia or conscious sedation and consequent nursing interventions.
- Directly responsible for care of the patient during endoscopy procedures and indirectly responsible through coordination and information sharing of both pre- and post-procedure care. The procedure room nurse will assist the physician during the procedure and requires them to be hands-on utilizing all equipment and tools needed.
- Inspect the facilities and act to maintain excellent hygiene and safety (decontaminating equipment, sanitizing surfaces, preparing beds etc.)
- Provide instant medical care in emergencies
- Foster a supportive and compassionate environment to care for patients and their families
- Expand knowledge and capabilities by attending educational workshops, conferences etc.
- Work in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to stand for 6-8 hour shifts, push/pull stretchers, and help reposition patients as needed.
Requirements
- Experience of at least 2 years as a registered nurse, Endoscopy or procedural/pre-op/intra/pacu, is preferred
- Excellent knowledge of nursing care methods and procedures
- Excellent knowledge of admitting/intra/recovery for procedure patients
- In-depth knowledge of health and safety guidelines and procedures (sanitation, decontamination etc.) and willingness to follow them at all times
- A team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Responsible and compassionate
- Proficient IV skills
- Outstanding organizational and multi-tasking skills
- Patient with excellent problem-solving skills
- BSN or ADN diploma from a nursing program
- Valid nursing license
- ACLS/BLS required
