Upfit Technician

Summary

The purpose of this position is to perform specialized electronics installation and support to fleet vehicles and equipment across all NTTA departments ranging from highly complex Roadside Safety Service (RSS) Trucks to general work trucks to zero-turn radius lawn mowers (includes hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical upfit systems as well); includes troubleshooting/repairing issues related to installed upfit equipment. May also support general automotive troubleshooting/ repair/ preventative maintenance activities.

• Starting Pay: $20.38 ***
• $2,000 Retention Bonus ***
  
  

Responsibilities

• Completes vehicle/system repairs by performing professional quality non-OEM installations.
• Cleans and maintains the shop by cleaning all bays, removing trash and debris, sweeping floors and properly disposing of all supplies and used materials.
• Assists the section by answering the phone, providing information, performing maintenance, and completing paperwork.
• Ability to understand OEM manufacturers factory installed component functionality.
• Ability to read multimeters and relate to voltage, ohm, and amperage usage as it applies in automotive and electronics applications.
• Ability to read, interpret, and follow basic blueprints, diagram, wiring schematics, specifications, and other written instructions or procedures to accurately assemble upfit equipment which could be electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and/or hydraulic in nature.
  
  

Qualifications

Minimum:

• Associate’s degree
• 1-3 years’ experience
• Driver's license
  
  

Preferred

• Valid CDL “B” or ability to obtain CDL “B” license within 12 months.
