Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for eye examinations by taking detailed medical histories and explaining procedures clearly.
- Assist with intake processes, including collecting insurance information and updating medical records in electronic health record (EHR)
- Perform specialized optical tests and assessments, including visual acuity, intraocular pressure measurements, and slit-lamp examinations.
- Maintain strict aseptic techniques during procedures to prevent infection and ensure patient safety.
- Support ophthalmologists during exams by handling instruments, recording findings, and managing medical documentation accurately.
- Manage patient flow at the front desk by scheduling appointments, verifying insurance coverage, and ensuring efficient clinic operations.

Experience
- Prior experience working in a medical office setting, preferably within ophthalmology or optometry clinics. Preferred, but not necessary
- Knowledge of medical terminology, preferred but not necessary
- Familiarity with EMR systems preferred, but training will be provided
- Experience with optical equipment, visual testing devices, or similar diagnostic tools is highly desirable.
- Background in retail sales or front desk operations is a plus, demonstrating strong customer service skills and retail math proficiency.
- Understanding of medical billing, coding practices specific to ophthalmology is advantageous.
