Position’s Role Summary:
North Texas Behavioral Health Authority (NTBHA), based in Dallas is responsible for developing a collaborative system of care for children, adolescents and adults with severe mental illness and other serious emotional disturbances, as well as those experiencing a substance use disorder. This position’s actions and work must align with NTBHA values and goals, regulations, and policies and procedures, and meet all documentation standards and regulatory requirements.
The Kaufman Living Room Drop Off Coordinator provides timely intervention in the least restrictive level of care; that is comprehensive, trauma-informed, person-centered, recovery and resilience–oriented efforts, to help people in crisis gain recovery and stability in the community. Their role will primarily serve Kaufman County and requires excellent organizational and clinical skills to provide continuity of care and crisis response solutions through intersystem and interdepartmental functions, and processes through the NTBHA Utilization Management Department and community stakeholders.
The Kaufman Living Room Drop Off Coordinator provides alternatives to arrest, emergency department utilization and inpatient psychiatric care. Disposition planning consists of performing complex services that includes screenings and assessments, crisis follow up, and transitional services that effectively connect individuals with mental illness and/or a co-occurring disorder to other services preventing re-emerging crisis, while eliminating barriers to treatment.
The Kaufman Living Room Drop Off Coordinator actively participates in staffing's to determine best treatment options, collaborate, and work effectively with internal departments, law enforcement, state, and local hospitals, and community agencies and organizations. This position will provide skills training and case management targeting identified individual risks and needs related to reducing recidivism, hospitalization and/or homelessness.
This position specifically requires availability Monday through Friday from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with occasional weekend shifts as needed. The role may also require after-hours cellular availability and flexibility to work at other times and some weekends. This position requires minimal travel with an expectation of reliable transportation, plus a valid driver’s license and car insurance required.
The Kaufman Living Room Drop Off Coordinator also supports the Jail Assessor program and will require one 12-hour shift per month, normally on a weekend, to meet program needs. Their role is to perform complex coordination and assessment to assist in identifying strengths and needs to eliminate barriers and to connect incarcerated clients with mental health providers to an appropriate level of care once they are released. This role begins while the individual is still incarcerated, and cooperation and coordination with outside providers and jail administrators is important.

Qualifications required:
- Degree must be in a social, behavioral or human services field. Must meet TAC criteria for a QMHP (Qualified Mental Health Professional). This includes graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in sociology, social work, psychology, counseling or other TAC-approved major. A master’s degree is preferred.
- One or more years of experience with direct care of persons with serious mental illness and/or substance use disorders. Preference given to experience in psychiatric crisis service settings.
- Experience participating as a member of a treatment team that develops and monitors treatment plans for persons with chronic & serious mental illness.
- Current knowledge of local community resources, providers, and social support for homeless and indigent populations within the NTBHA service area.
- Understanding of and experience with HHSC programming and systems preferred, including Texas Resilience and Recovery, CMBHS, and CARE.
- Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license. Pass and maintain a clear background record as required for healthcare organization under state and federal contracts.

Salary : $55,000 - $60,000
