Position: RTI/ELA Coordinator (TOSA Position)
Reports To: Director of ELA and Elementary Education
Location: District Office
Overview: The RTI/ELA Coordinator supports K–12 ELA staff in implementing the NSCSD ELA curriculum, instructional models, and research-based practices, in collaboration with the Directors of Elementary and Secondary Education. This role includes overseeing components of the district’s ELA program and academic MTSS process, providing professional development for teachers and administrators at both the building and district levels, and staying current on emerging research and best practices to promote continuous professional learning and program improvement.
Job Responsibilities:
Guiding and assisting teachers in the full and ongoing implementation of all district literacy initiatives by delivering professional development, providing assistance during CTMs, and conducting non-evaluative observations of teachers
Reviewing and analyzing student diagnostic, screening, progress-monitoring, and outcome assessment data to assist in determining appropriate interventions and necessary program modifications
Coaching individuals and teams on how to support the NSCSD MTSS model
Maintaining LETRS facilitator certification
Engaging in continuous learning and leading the application of scientifically based research on best practices in literacy instruction and/or curriculum design and implementation
Assisting AIS teachers in matching students’ literacy needs with effective interventions and progress-monitoring tools
Troubleshooting teacher and student online account issues across all literacy and AIS platforms
Assisting in the coordination of all pilots related to AIS and ELA
Coordinating all testing, rostering, and training related to AimswebPlus
Assisting teachers with testing and resolving issues during the Universal Screening process
Participating in regular meetings and planning sessions with the Director of Elementary Education
Co-facilitating K–4 ELA Committee meetings
Co-facilitating K–4 Social Studies Committee meetings
Assisting in the budget planning process with the Director of Elementary Education for all ELA materials and professional development costs
Coordinating the ordering and distribution of all K–8 ELA materials and K–4 AIS materials
Following a workday schedule of 8:00–3:30, hours may be flexed but not to exceed a 7.5-hour workday
All other duties as assigned by the administration
Terms of Employment:
Ten (10) months, NSEA, TOSA position.
Qualifications:
Valid NYS Literacy Certification
At least five years of teaching experience
LETRS Certification preferred
Instructional Coaching experience preferred
Experience participating and contributing to a professional learning community preferred
