What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant position at North Star Plastic Surgery, LLC?
We are seeking a certified medical assistant in our Plastic Surgery Office to help our Surgeon, Nurse, and other staff with clinical and administrative tasks.
The ideal candidate will bring a friendly, positive attitude to our office and be ready to join a fast-paced work environment.
We will provide you with on-the-job training as needed to help you feel prepared to meet the needs of our patients, and opportunity for position growth will be presented as indicated, based on employee performance.
Responsibilities:
Clinical responsibilities will include direct patient care tasks such as assisting in procedures, wound care, removing surgical drains or sutures, checking and recording patient's vital signs, patient exam room preparation, and sterilizing medical equipment. Once a week during surgery days, additional responsibilities include assisting the surgeon in surgical procedures and the nurse with patient discharge, preoperative room setup, and turnover of the operating room.
Administrative responsibilities may include scheduling appointments, answering phone calls, submitting medical authorizations, and correspondence with insurance companies.
Education & Other Requirements:
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED (required)
- BLS certification
- Computer proficiency (Word, Excel, Adobe, Google Docs, etc.)
Preferred:
- Medical Assistant Certification, such as a CMA (Certified Medical Assistant) or an RMA (Registered Medical Assistant).
- Medical billing experience
- 1 year of Medical Assistant or other healthcare experience
- A basic understanding of medical terminology

- Full Time
- Monday-Friday, 8AM- 4PM
- No weekends; major holidays off
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
