What are the responsibilities and job description for the IT Systems Developer Intern position at North Star Mutual Insurance Company?
The Systems Development team within the IT department handles all aspects of software development including analysis of needed changes to existing systems and the need for new systems, database design, code writing, system testing, implementation, follow up, and ongoing review and maintenance. These systems are used by employees and Agents to accomplish various tasks such as policy issuance, billing, claims processing, on-line quoting and application upload, on-line inquiry, online claims submissions, and the daily/monthly/quarterly/annual processing and reporting of financial and statistical information for the company and trade and regulatory associations. North Star Mutual Insurance Company is looking for applicants for our summer 2026 IT Systems Developer internship program. Students will be exposed to new development tools and database structures, along with how seeing how IT supports other aspects of our insurance business. They will also have the opportunity to learn how to be a team player, gain responsibility, and enhance their communication skills. Other duties/projects may be assigned. Individuals that have strong communication and analytical skills, the ability to learn necessary coding techniques, languages, and procedures, are encouraged to apply. Interns may be exposed to confidential Company information and must be able to maintain that throughout and following their experience at North Star. The pursuit of an Associates or Bachelor s degree in Computer Science or related field is preferred for this internship. Compensation: $20.00 per hour. Deadline: Monday, February 23, 2026 at 12PM CST
