Pay Range $47.38-$58.06*
Job Summary
The Nuclear Medicine Technologist is responsible for performing diagnostic imaging and therapeutic procedures using radiopharmaceuticals. The technologist prepares and administers radioactive materials, operates imaging equipment, and ensures patient safety and comfort throughout procedures. All work must adhere to institutional, state, and federal regulatory standards.
Essential Functions

Prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals to patients under the direction of a physician

Perform all nuclear medicine procedures accurately and efficiently, to include but not limited to, Cardiac studies, Bone Scans, HIDA scans, Pulmonary, Thyroid, and Renal

Follow ALARA principles and ensure compliance with radiation safety protocols

Prepare, calculate, verify, and administer radiopharmaceuticals in accordance with NYSDOH and NRC regulations

Handle and dispose of radioactive materials in accordance with regulatory guidelines

Performs equipment testing, calibration, quality control/assurance and maintains these records according to all regulatory agencies

Perform dose calibrations, quality assurance testing, syringe preparation, and radiopharmaceutical documentation.

Maintain accurate radiopharmaceutical inventory and perform required wipe tests, surveys, and exposure monitoring.

Complete required documentation including exam details, doses administered, patient responses, and radiation exposure tracking.

Schedules the Radiation Safety meetings, types up the meeting minutes, and keeps the minutes organized and maintained for compliance.

Adherence to all hospital policies, including HIPAA, infection control, patient safety

Participation in annual competencies, mandatory in-services, and continuing education to maintain licensure.

Ensure compliance with hospital emergency procedures for radioactive spills or contamination

Assists in all areas within scope of practice and limits of competence as operational needs change
Qualifications
Education/Certification/Licensing

Registered Radiologic Technologist ARRT(R)
-
Registered by ARRT (N) or NMTCB (Required)

MUST obtain and maintain a current BLS certification- Required
Experience
-
1 Years of experience in Nuclear Medicine preferred but not required
