What are the responsibilities and job description for the Power Generation Mechanic position at North Slope Borough?
All Borough employees who occupy positions where federal law mandates testing shall comply with the requirements of the federal regulations and will be subject to pre-employment, random, post-accident, reasonable suspicion return to duty and follow-up testing.
Repair and maintain Diesel Generators and associated equipment.

Schedule and perform routine preventive maintenance, repairs and services on generator and associated equipment.
Perform daily inspections, cleaning and fueling of equipment and follow preventative maintenance schedule and train operator's in the maintenance and repair.
Operate a variety of diagnostic instruments and a variety of hand, electric, and air driven tools.
Fabricate metal and perform body repair, touch up and related work.
Acquire or requisition parts to make the necessary repairs.
Maintain records and prepare reports on equipment.
Travel to villages to perform repair duties as assigned.
Assist with safety inspections.
Attends safety meetings and training sessions as required.
May be required to work a non-traditional work schedule to include evening, holidays and weekends and may be subject to 24 hour on-call status.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge of North Slope Borough organization, operations, policies and procedures.
Skill in effectively diagnosing and troubleshooting repairs on vehicles and equipment, and fabricating and adapting parts and tools to specific repairs.
Skill in the operation of diagnostic equipment.
High school graduate or G.E.D/or, a combination of 12 years of education and related work experience.
One year of mechanic classes in Mechanic Trade School and/or Two years of mechanical work experience;
Ability to obtain a Valid Alaska Commercial Driver's License that meets North Slope Borough insurance criteria within 90 days of hire.
