What are the responsibilities and job description for the Horse Stable Hand position at North Shore Equestrian Center?
Job Overview:
Join our team as Barn Help and contribute to the daily operations of our barn. North Shore Equestrian Center is a premier hunter, jumper, and equitation facility. The property can house upwards of 150 horses and is the home of the Long Island University equestrian program. As a vital member of our team, you will assist in various tasks related to horse care, maintenance, and barn operations.
Duties:
- Provide daily care for horses including feeding (including supplements), turning out, and monitoring their overall well-being.
-Manage and implement feed, supplement, medication and daily care needs for all horses.
- Assist in maintaining cleanliness and organization within the barn and surrounding areas.
- This position DOES NOT require mucking stalls or operating heavy machinery.
-Performing basic equine first aid as needed and calling the vet if necessary.
-Picking feet, bathing, and grooming horses as needed.
-Potential to exercise horses and teach lessons for the right candidate.
-This job reports to the barn manager.
Experience:
-We are willing to train candidate as long as you have prior horse handling experience.
Prior experience in horse care and handling is a must.
-Vet tech degree or bachelors degree preferred.
- Basic knowledge of horse tack and other equipment.
- Ability to work effectively in an outdoor environment with a focus on cleanliness and organization.
-Good communication skills and ability to work with others.
