What are the responsibilities and job description for the Anticipated Special Education Aide (7.5 hrs./day) position at North Scott High School?
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma
- Demonstrated competence in tasks assigned preferred.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO: Certified Special Education Personnel and Building Principal
JOB GOAL: To assist the special education teacher and general education teachers in achieving teaching objectives by working with individual students or small groups.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists with tasks associated with the assigned student(s) curriculum
- Provides physical assistance for the assigned student(s) if indicated
- Monitors and/or accompanies the assigned student(s) as needed
- Establishes a supportive relationship with the assigned student(s)
- Serves as a resource person for the assigned student(s) evaluation team
- Assists with clerical tasks associated with the assigned student(s)
- Collaborate with other staff members, including special education teachers, therapists, and support staff, to meet the needs of all students.
- Support students with special needs or accommodations as outlined in Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Use strategies to de-escalate challenging behaviors and ensure a safe environment for all students.
- Engage in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to stay informed about best practices in special education.
- Support students in participating in general education classrooms and activities, promoting an inclusive environment.
- Encourage and reinforce positive behaviors and social interactions.
- Perform other duties as assigned
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Ten month year. Salary established by the Board.
