Head Custodian
12 Month Position
Reports to: Principal or Assistant Principal
Purpose: An employee in this class performs a variety of manual activities cleaning, sanitizing and maintaining the cleanliness of the school. The employee performs a variety of duties in accordance with established practices and cleaning schedules.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalency required
- Must hold valid NC Driver’s License
- Custodial experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Working knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment
- Ability to understand and follow simple oral and written directions
- Skills and knowledge in the use of custodial equipment used in routine cleaning
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Cleaning and sanitizing of building daily and as needed
- General cleaning, including moping, sweeping, vacuuming
- Scrub and clean rest rooms
- Use of a variety of floor cleaning custodial equipment (scrubber and burnisher)
- Ensure grounds are cleared of debris on a daily basis
- Check all fire extinguishers and exit and emergency lights for safety inspections
- Maintain and upkeep of custodial equipment
- Maintain custodial inventory and order supplies as necessary
- Assist with onboarding and training of new custodians
Salary : $16 - $20
