What are the responsibilities and job description for the Teacher-Special Education (2026-2027) position at North Reading High School?
North Reading High School is seeking a Special Education Teacher to start in the 2026-2027 school year. North Reading Public Schools is actively looking to build a diverse workforce to ensure all students feel welcome, safe, and valued for who they are and supported to reach their potential.
North Reading Public School Educators first contractual day is September 1, 2026. New educators are required to attend the two day new staff orientation on dates still to be determined.
Essential duties
- Provide direct specialized instruction, inclusion support, curriculum modifications, and accommodations for high school students with disabilities
- Develop appropriate IEPs in conjunction with Team
- Provide consultation to general education staff in the content areas associated with assigned students and ensure that accommodations are being met
- Facilitate all aspects of student's annual review and interim progress meetings
- Complete academic testing for initial and re-evaluations
- Oversee support of Paraprofessional staff
- Assist with the transition process for the of Fall 2026 (school year 2026-2027)
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field
- Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education teaching license in Moderate Disabilities, grades 5-12
- Working knowledge of evaluation and IEP development
- Experience administering, scoring, and interpreting diagnostics assessments including WIAT, TOWL, and KeyMath preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Collaborative working demeanor
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa required
