What are the responsibilities and job description for the Teacher-Social Studies Long-Term Substitute position at North Reading High School?

North Reading High School is seeking a long-term Substitute Social Studies Teacher tentatively from January 5, 2026 through February 10, 2026. Please note these dates are tentative and may be changed with advanced notice.

Essential duties 

  • Unit/lesson planning
  • Direct instruction of students in United States History and AP US History, as well as Psychology
  • Assess student learning
  • Carry out all aspects and obligations of instructional practice 
  • Be available to conference with parents and families as needed or requested
  • Work closely with our Social Studies Department to ensure pacing and learning expectations are maintained
  • Other duties as requested by the Building Principal, Assistant Principal, and/or their Designee

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field
  • Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education teaching license in History, grades 5-12
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Collaborative working demeanor
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills 
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred
  • Citizenship, residency, or work visa required
