Position Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Science Teacher to join our collaborative team. The ideal candidate is committed to student growth, equity, and innovative teaching practices that make science engaging and accessible to all learners.
Responsibilities:
- Teach Regents-level science courses (e.g., Living Environment, Earth Science, Chemistry, or Physics)
- Develop and implement engaging, standards-aligned lesson plans
- Use data to inform instruction and support student progress
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to plan interdisciplinary projects
- Provide academic and social-emotional support for students in a small-school setting
- Participate in professional development, school events, and team meetings
Qualifications:
- NYS Certification in Science (Living Environment, Chemistry, Earth Science, or Physics) required
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Commitment to equity and culturally responsive teaching
- Experience with transfer or alternative education preferred but not required
Compensation:
Per UFT/DOE contract and commensurate with experience.
