Children's/Communications Director
Position Summary
Hybrid - full-time (approx. 40 Hours), $17.50-$23.00 per hour depending on experience and education.
The Children’s/Communications Director has dual responsibilities:
- Overseeing the Children’s Ministry - Developing, overseeing, and implementing a comprehensive Christian education program for children from birth through 5th grade, fostering spiritual growth in alignment with North Pointe’s overall mission.
- Facilitating communications - Oversee and execute North Pointe’s communication strategy to ensure clear, consistent, and compelling messaging across all platforms and communication streams.
Communication Responsibilities
- Website Management - Maintain and regularly update the church website as needed
- Graphic Design & Visual Branding - Design graphics for church-wide events, sermon series, ministries, and monthly events
- Weekly Communications -
- Create and distribute a simple weekly all-church text
- Design and send a weekly all-church email
- Maintain Planning Center - Event Registration and Calendar
- Social Media Management - Create and schedule content for Facebook and Instagram
- Team Collaboration - Work closely with staff and ministry leaders to understand communication needs and provide strategic support with available hours
Children’s Responsibilities
The Children's/Communications Director works closely with staff and ministry leaders to support events and initiatives, helping the church effectively inform, engage, and connect with the congregation and community.
- Curriculum & Programming: Develop and implement age-appropriate, biblically sound curriculum for Sunday school, children's church, and special events
- Volunteer Management: Recruit, train, schedule, and support a team of volunteers to serve in children's ministries
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure all programs follow child safety and protection policies ("Plan to Protect" or similar), ensuring a secure environment
- Parent Communication: Maintain regular communication with parents to provide updates, offer resources, and build relationships
- Event Coordination: Plan and execute special events, including Vacation Bible School (VBS) and Christmas program
- Budget & Administration: Manage the annual budget for the children's department, including supplies, resources, and curriculum expenses
Qualifications
- Experience in communications, marketing, or graphic design (church or nonprofit context preferred)
- Proficiency in Planning Center and Adobe (Express, Photoshop, and Illustrator) preferred
- Strong organizational, creative thinking, and communication strategy skills
- Requires a collaborative, team-oriented approach with other staff members and volunteers
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Alignment with the mission, vision, and values of North Pointe
- Bachelor’s degree in Theology, Christian Education, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in ministry leadership, preferably with children.
- A proven passion for working with children and fostering their faith development.
Working Conditions
- Willingness to work hybrid - a majority of hours in-office, work at home as needed
- Includes Sundays and a few evenings/weekends.
