Job Title: NA/PCA/HHA/Caregiver
FLSA Status: Non-exempt, Hourly
Position Purpose: The NA/PCA/HHA/Caregiver performs essential services to maintain the personal care, health, safety, and comfort of clients in compliance with Department of Health Home Care policies and regulations.
Principal Accountabilities and Essential Functions
- Adhere to and implement the client’s individualized Care Plan and ensure compliance with all Department of Health regulations.
- Assist clients with personal care activities, including but not limited to:
- Bathing, skin care, back rubs, hair care, nail care, dressing, and undressing.
- Feeding, oral hygiene, shaving, grooming, and bedtime preparation.
- Provide assistance with toileting, including use of the bathroom, urinal, or bedpan, and ensure incontinent clients are kept clean and dry.
- Support clients with the self-administration of medications in accordance with state regulations.
- Assist with communication needs, including reading, writing, and verbal communication.
- Provide transportation or escort services as outlined in the client’s care plan.
- Assist with meal planning, grocery shopping, and meal preparation in accordance with dietary guidelines.
- Perform light housekeeping, including laundry, bed linen changes, and maintaining a clean living environment.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of client progress, services performed, and any changes in condition. Report promptly to supervisors.
- Report all client or employee incidents/accidents immediately to management.
- Provide physical support, including exercise, ambulation, and transfer assistance, using proper body mechanics.
- Address and report safety concerns such as:
- Wet floors, spills, or other immediate hazards.
- Frayed electrical cords, malfunctioning smoke/carbon monoxide detectors, or unsecured handrails.
- Engage in respectful and empathetic interaction with clients while maintaining their dignity, privacy, and property.
- Exhibit a positive and professional attitude and uphold client confidentiality.
- Respond promptly to client requests and communicate effectively with all team members.
- Follow proper handwashing techniques and infection control procedures.
- Attend and complete all required in-service training to meet regulatory requirements.
- Seek assistance from supervisors when needed and demonstrate dependability in following instructions.
- Accept and fulfill assignments professionally, exercising good judgment.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the management team.
Required Job Knowledge and Skills
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Display a sympathetic and positive attitude toward caring for others.
- Previous experience in home care or a related field preferred.
- Reliable transportation to travel between multiple locations daily.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to remain flexible, resilient, and professional in varying situations.
- Maintain a professional and well-groomed appearance.
- Commitment to delivering exceptional client service.
- Possess and maintain a current Tuberculosis (TB) test and comply with health screening requirements.
- Authorization to work in the U.S.
Physical and Environmental Demands
- Combination of sitting, standing, bending, reaching, stooping, walking, climbing stairs, and physical movement throughout the workday.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Maintain adequate vision and hearing, with or without prosthetics, to meet the demands of the role.
- Effective verbal and written communication with clients, team members, supervisors, and external stakeholders.
- Comply with all requirements related to licensing, certification, training, background checks, drug and alcohol testing, health assessments, and continuous education as required by federal, state, or local law.

- Ensure compliance with infection control protocols, including COVID-19 and flu prevention measures.
- Participate in emergency preparedness drills and procedures as required by the agency and regulatory bodies.
- Adhere to Department of Health Home Care regulations and ethical standards.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, PRN
Pay: $15.00 - $16.00 per hour
Expected hours: 8 – 24 per week
