The North Mississippi State Hospital is searching for an Adult Psychiatrist for the Tupelo, Mississippi location in Lee County. This is a full-time, 8-Hour Shift position with Benefits (Health, Life, Dental, Vision, and Supplemental Insurance Policies) and a Retirement Package. The Psychiatrist will provide professional psychiatric services in a 50-Bed Psychiatric Hospital and is responsible for the assessment and treatment of mental illness. Provides thorough psychiatric services including assessment, diagnosis, prescriptions and treatment of patients with mental illnesses. The incumbent will support the mission of NMSH to provide the highest quality acute psychiatric care for Northeast Mississippi adults in the process of recovery.
Essential Functions:
This is professional work involving psychiatric services including assessment, diagnosis, prescriptions and treatment for psychiatric patients. The work involves elaborate, complex and precise evaluation and care for severely mentally ill adults and emotionally ill adolescents. Incumbents’ work is overseen by the Clinical Director.
- Prescribes, evaluates, and monitors the administration of medications.
- Serves as consultant to other medical staff regarding patients' mental, behavioral, or emotional disorders.
- Prepares and submits evaluation reports to the courts and testifies in court proceedings.
- Participates in planning and oversight of the clinical education activities of the program.
- Salary: $151,566.33 - 250,000.00 Annually.
Experience/Education Requirements:
Education:
Typically requires state licensure, Board Certification in Psychiatry, 0 - 3 years of experience. Successful completion of a psychiatry residency program which is accredited by either the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or the American Osteopathic Association (AOA); and Certification/Licensure/Registration/Documentation as required below:
Certification, Licensure, and Registration:
Holds a current and unrestricted license to practice medicine as a physician in the State of Mississippi;
AND
Board Certified in Psychiatry;
AND
Registered and certified by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA)
Required Document(s):
Applicant must attach a valid copy of his/her permanent license to practice as a Physician in the State of Mississippi.
