Contract Records Specialist
The North Mississippi State Hospital is searching for a Contract Records Specialist for the Tupelo, Mississippi location in Lee County. The is a Day Shift position. The incumbent will be accountable for the maintenance of medical and psychiatric records of patients admitted to the facility. The employee will support the mission of NMSH to provide the highest quality acute psychiatric care for Northeast Mississippi adults in the process of recovery.
Essential Functions:
This is professional patient records work. The incumbent is responsible for the indexing, coding, and filing of medical records and other related documents of the agency. Incumbents work under minimum supervision and oversees the maintenance of medical and psychiatric patient records.
- Maintenance of Medical and Psychiatric Records.
- Reviews Medical Records Charts to determine compliance with state statutes.
- Locate and Retrieve Medical Records upon request from authorized agency, hospital, or physician.
- Index, Code, and File Medical Records and related correspondence.
- Transfers imaged documents to storage space.
- Prefers Applicants with any of the following: Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT); Certified Coding Associate (CCA); Certified Coding Specialist (CCS); Certified Coding Specialist - Physician-based (CCS-P); Certified Professional Coder (CPC); Certified Professional Coder-Hospital Outpatient (CPC-H); or Certified Professional Coder-Payer (CPC-P) required.
- Salary: $13.00 per hour.
