Job Description


**JOB SUMMARY**
The Patient Access Supervisor at North Mississippi Health Services is responsible for supporting the overall financial health of the organization by managing the daily activities of the collecting and input of Insurance Information, Point of Service Collections and Financial Arrangements, & Customer Service via Direct Contact with Patients and their family members. This role collaborates with the Patient Access Manager in overseeing department team members' performance, development, and recruitment and requires an experienced individual with excellent analytical, organizational, and communications skills to manage Demographic and Insurance Information. generate and analyze reporting, and interface effectively wit h internal and externa l stakeholders to promote timely and accurate billing and collections. A supervisor oversees and guides a team of employees to ensure efficient task completion, promoting teamwork and effective coordination. 
  **JOB** **FUNCTIONS**
**Supervise:**
•  Plans, directs, and coordinates the daily activities of the team members within Patient Access Department
•  Manages, oversees, and evaluates the Schedulers, Patient Access Specialists, Pre-Registration Analysts, Patient Account Representatives, Admitters to ensure maximum rate of clean claims by verifying accuracy of information, medical procedures have authorizations, medical necessity checks are satisfactory, & team members are providing estimates to guarantors with collection, payment plan coordination & financial clearance completed.
•  Conducts annual performance evaluations and provides feedback.
•  Interviews, hires, trains, and provides corrective action (when necessary)
 **Collections & Financial Arrangements:**
•  Ensures team members are providing estimates to guarantors for elective procedures and collection attempted at the point of pre-registration or point of service
•  Ensures team members are administering ABNs when necessary
•  Ensures accounts are financially secure prior to service
•  Ensures timely and accurate processing of accounts in accordance with best practices, defined workflow, procedures, and applicable legislation/regulations
 **Customer Serv ice:**
•  Creates strong customer service orientation and collaboration
•  Provides excellent customer service to all internal and external customers
 **Communication:**
•  Effectively communicates information to staff, internal and external customers
**Liaison:**
•  Serves as a liaison between Manager and team members
**Budget:**
•  Complies with departmental budget guidelines
**Reporting:**
•  Monitors and measures accuracy rates, collection totals, registration denials
•  Ensures appropriate financial reporting
•  Responsible for analyzing, verifying, resolving outstanding edits, procuring any payer information from coverage detection
**Regulation:**
•  Adheres to NMHS/NMMC Policies/Procedures/Guidelines
•  Complies with applicable Local/State/Federal policies/procedures/guideline/regulations/laws/statutes



**QUALIFICATIONS**


**Education**
  *  Bachelor's Degree In Business, Healthcare, Coding, or equivalent field. Required *  Associate's Degree Willing to consider 4 years Patient Access, Claims, Billing/ Follow-Up, or revenue cycle experience beyond minimum requirement in lieu of Bachelor degree. Required *  High School Diploma or GED Equivalent Willing to consider 8 years Patient Access, Claims, Billing/ Follow-Up, or revenue cycle experience beyond minimum requirement in lieu of Bachelor degree. Required

  * Working knowledge of Registration systems, Medicare/Medicaid/Third Party Liability/Workers Compensation requirements; . * Working knowledge of Registration systems, Medicare/Medicaid/Third Party Liability/Workers Compensation requirements; . * Knowledge of applicable state and federal regulations relating to registering accounts and collecting at point of service * Excellent negotiating and analytical skills * Strong verbal and written communication skills; * Proficiency * Excellent interpersonal skills * Effectively and efficiently prioritizes and organizes tasks * Provides supervision to direct reports * Develops, implements/evaluates projects (timely & efficient manner) * Evaluates and provides coaching for all employees within the scope of responsibility * Ensures accurate and timely collection of all appropriate patient estimates * Ensures effective monetary management of Deposits * Ensures timely and accurate processing of accounts in accordance with best practices, defined workflow, procedures, and applicable legislature/ regulations * Gathers and relays information with knowledge, tact, and diplomacy * Experiences daily contact with co-workers, patients, payers, and other NMHS/NMMC staff members * Exhibits strong written and verbal communication skills * Reflects a positive, caring attitude toward clients, patients, staff, and the public we serve * Evaluates and coaches reporting employees to accomplish major goals and objectives * Develops, implements/evaluates projects in a timely & efficient manner
