What are the responsibilities and job description for the Instructional Technology Technician position at North Middlesex Regional School District?
The Instructional Technology Technician provides general technical support to serve the needs of the students, staff, and administration of the school district. Each district Instructional Technology Technician is assigned schools for which they provide primary technical support, install and maintain end user devices, maintain related inventory records, and proactively monitor technology related systems for anticipated needs. Instructional Technology Technicians are also assigned district-wide departments and/or responsibilities for which they provide primary technical support or additional troubleshooting and research support. Specific assignments may change over time under the direction of the Director of Operations based on the individual Instructional Technology Technician’s areas of interest and the overall district needs.
All Instructional Technology Technicians are responsible for providing secondary technical support to any district school or department where additional support is required or where the primary assigned Instructional Technology Technician is not available.
For the current position opening, the Instructional Technology Technician will be expected to provide advanced support and advice related to audio, video, and theatrical lighting systems for auditoriums and TV Studios in addition to general technology support.
The Instructional Technology Technician serves as part of the district Technology Department and report to the Director of Operations.

- Oversees the configuration, installation, and maintenance of computers, mobile devices, and peripherals to ensure consistent implementations that fulfill the requirements of that system.
- Provides technical support for access and use of district software and hardware systems.
- Performs projector and AV system repairs, replacements, and installations either directly or by communicating and working with outside vendors when necessary.
- Performs audits of technology within assigned schools and departments to ensure proper operation, maintenance, and to anticipate replacement and upgrade requirements.
- Collaborates with staff in assigned schools and departments to identify technology requirements and assist with implementation of systems and configurations aligned with their stated goals.
- Provides audio video system setup and support.
- Prepares and monitors devices used for MCAS, Access, and common assessment testing.
- Develops and provides instructions for use of technological systems. Instructs teachers how to use new technology.
- Removes spyware, viruses and other unauthorized software from computers as needed.
- Responds, troubleshoots and resolves technology support requests.
- Coordinates with other staff members and provides assistance to ensure timely response and completes resolutions to technology support requests across the district.
- Ensures operation of equipment by following manufacturer’s instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, calling for repairs and warranty replacements, and evaluates new equipment and techniques.
- Maintains an up-to-date and organized inventory of all district hardware and software within assigned schools and departments, including locations and licensing.
- Researches and stays current with new and emerging technologies, implementation strategies, industry trends, and applicable legal requirements. Make related recommendations to keep district technology current, secure, and functional in support of district educational and operational priorities.
- Follows established district standards and policies pertaining to hardware and software. Helps in the establishment of standards where none might exist. Reports non-adherence to standards to the Director of Operations.
- Communicates, collaborates and coordinates with all members of the technology staff to ensure smooth and consistent operation of the district’s overall technology infrastructure.
- Performs similar or related work as required, directed or as situation dictates.
Salary : $62,000 - $70,000
