Job Description:
North Middlesex Regional High School is seeking a Boys Assistant Soccer Coach to support the boys’ soccer program. The successful candidate will work closely with the Head Coach and Assistant Coaches to help guide, mentor, and develop student-athletes in all aspects of the soccer program. This position is ideal for a passionate and motivated coach with a desire to help student-athletes improve their soccer skills, teamwork, and character.
The Boys Assistant Coach will assist in running practices, providing feedback to athletes, and contributing to game day preparation, ensuring the program remains competitive and provides student-athletes with a positive and supportive athletic experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Practice & Player Development:
Assist the Head Coach in planning and conducting effective training sessions focused on skill development, tactics, teamwork, and fitness.
Provide individual coaching and feedback to players to help them improve both their technical and tactical skills.
Promote a positive, supportive, and challenging environment where student-athletes feel encouraged to improve.
Team Support & Supervision:
Help supervise and manage the team during practices, games, and other team events.
Encourage athletes to develop good sportsmanship, teamwork, and leadership on and off the field.
Assist in ensuring the team maintains a positive and respectful culture, with all athletes held to high standards of conduct.
Game Day Responsibilities:
Assist in the preparation and coaching during games, including providing strategic input and motivating players.
Help manage player rotations and ensure players are mentally prepared and focused.
Support the Head Coach in game evaluation and post-game analysis to refine strategies.
Communication & Collaboration:
Maintain open and positive communication with athletes, parents, and school administration to ensure smooth operations of the soccer program.
Collaborate with the Head Coach and other staff to support the development and management of the team.
Assist in organizing and communicating logistics for games, practices, and team events.
Compliance & Safety:
Ensure the soccer program complies with all North Middlesex School District policies and MIAA regulations.
Promote the safety and well-being of all athletes by adhering to injury prevention protocols and concussion management procedures.
Maintain required certifications, including Concussion Training (NFHS or CDC-approved), First Aid & CPR Certification, and CORI/SORI Background Check.

Required Qualifications:
Previous coaching experience or a strong understanding of soccer fundamentals and game strategies.
Ability to work effectively as part of a coaching team and communicate with student-athletes and parents.
Passion for soccer and a commitment to fostering student-athletes’ growth both athletically and personally.
Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Must meet all district and MIAA coaching requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous coaching or playing experience at the high school or collegiate level.
Ability to motivate and develop athletes of varying skill levels.
Experience working with high school student-athletes, particularly in a team environment.
Knowledge of sports performance training and injury prevention strategies.
Salary:
Per NMRSD Coach Stipend Schedule.
