Grants Pass School District No. 7 is now accepting applications for the following position for the 2025-2026 school year:
Location: North Middle School Elementary
Position: Special Education Educational Assistant
Hours: 6 hours per day
Calendar: 183 days per year (August-June)

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade. Also, one of the following three options:
- Two years of college study
- An associate’s (or higher) degree
- A passing score on the District’s reading, writing, and math assessment.
- Preferred: supplemented by college level work or special vocational training in Special Education principles and practices, behavior management, and/or procedures related to basic physical/medical needs and personal hygiene. Two years of responsible instructional assistance experience, preferably involving contact with students who have some form of learning or physical disability or special cultural, social/behavioral needs.
- Assists in the planning and implementing of learning experiences of students enrolled in the program, confers with teacher.
- Other duties may be ordering, preparing, record keeping, monitoring, typing filing, duplicating, evaluation, correcting, other clerical work and other duties as assigned.
- Duties may involve working with students who need feeding, toileting or changing of diapers and restraining, at times, due to aggressive behavior.
- Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with fellow employees and ability to get along well with students.
- Bilingual and biliterate in Spanish preferred.
- Upon selection, employees will be required to pay for the following: $12.50 fingerprinting fee and $70 ODE fingerprinting processing fee.
- Please note, the ODE fingerprinting fee will increase to $75 beginning 2/1/26.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
- $16.89-$24.40 per hour. Dependent on approved accepted experience/education.
- Annual COLA pay increase (as negotiated with Oregon Association of Classified Employees).
- Annual step pay increase awarded to eligible employees.
- 6 paid holidays per year.
- 2 personal days per year.
- 10 paid sick leave days per year.
- Bereavement leave, as per bargaining agreement.
- Continuing Education Funds, up to $1,200 per year.
- Up to $1,576 per month district-paid contribution toward full-family medical, dental, and vision insurance.
- $4,402 per year insurance opt-out stipend for employees who demonstrate other health insurance coverage under a qualifying employer sponsored group medical plan (more than 6-hour employees), $3,961.80 (4–6-hour employees).
- 6% employee paid contribution towards Oregon Public Employees Retirement System
- Longevity Service Stipend after 10 years of employment ($1,000-$1,600).
